Bee Stitch

This lovely stitch is a four row repeat worked over a multiple of 2 stitches, plus 1
K1B = Knit into the stitch below the next stitch on your left needle - you will be dropping the next stitch off the left needle at the same time.  This is a bit hard to understand written, so be sure to watch the video if you are confused.

Row 1: Knit all stitches  (This is the wrong side of your fabric)
Row 2: Knit 1, *K1B, Knit 1*, repeat from * to end
Row 3: Knit all stitches
Row 4: K2, K1B, *K1, K1B*, repeat from * to the last two stitches, K2

Repeat these four rows for pattern.  If you are a visual learner, below is a video demonstrating this stitch. Enjoy!

  1. Hello! Just wanted to say thank for creating the video on bee stitch. Even though it's supposed to be an easy pattern for beginners, what a lot of how-to videos don't tell you is the need for an extra stitch. I really appreciate your insight and have managed the bee stitch at last! (I'll be blogging about it later, though!)

  6. Thanks for the clear instructions and visualization on your video.

How would you advise on the cast off?

  7. Laura, any bind off you like should be fine, like a standard knitted bind off.

  8. It took me ever so long to realize that the ROW 1 : is the cast on stitch row.
If I am mistaken please, someone correct me.
In my limited experience, I have only work the pattern after the cast on stitch. To
my wide eyed wonderment. I could not make this patteren come out on the right side of
the fabric . Until the light bulb lite up, there is NO cast on stitch, that is the knitted
first row. :) ( OH MY ) Now I believe that I do the BEE STITCH !
